Bill Hubard has worked in the financial sector and is known around the world as one of the leading economists with over 40 years’ experience. He is now the chief financial consultant at TRADE.com, adding to his long resume of significant appointments.
Hubard has a long history of ground-breaking work in the finance and bonds markets. In 1971 he started working for the Morgan Guaranty Trust Co of New York as a bond trader with one of his earliest highlights being the completion of the first ever trades in the initial 30-year bond. After this, he moved on to F.S. Smithers by John Mack. Specializing in risk arbitrage, Hubard used investment strategies to take profitable positions on the mergers and acquisitions of financial institutions. Hubard placed a focus on advanced investment strategies like these while other financial experts were unable to succeed in the same way.
Continuing his trend of pioneering moves in the financial industry, he partnered with Bruce Maxwell to form the MaxCor Company in 1978. MaxCor focused on US government and treasury repurchases and became one of the first repurchase brokers in New York. In 1981, he also helped execute the first asset swap that was performed between Detroit Edison and Citicorp.
In 1987, he relocated to London where he took charge of the London branch of RZB-Austria and asset liability group. Here, Hubard focused on international tax laws and how he could move money around to take advantage of discrepancies in those laws.
In 1995 Hubard retired to teach at LSE and LIFFE. He transitioned into lecturing and began making appearances on CNBC as their in-house economics expert, and on Bloomberg TV.
It’s not often that you find someone that has such a diverse background in the finance world. This is why, even after his so-called retirement, he continues to work in a consultant capacity. At TRADE.com, Hubard acts not only as an advisor, he also serves as an ambassador to the brand. His roles allow him to represent TRADE.com in media both on air (via networking TV and news channels) and off air (via seminars and training videos that he puts together himself). Hubard is also available to work one-on-one with TRADE.com VIP clients.
